I got to be the keynote speaker at the Discovery Center's Third Annual Birding Festival in Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin, on May 19, 2007. This is one of my favorite birding festivals, exemplifying the best kind of work a great local bird club can do. It's high on birding and education, and pleasantly low on commercialism.
I led a little warbler walk at the Discovery Center at dawn, and then, after my breakfast talk on the effects of climate change on birds, headed out to the Little Turtle to lead a bird walk. These photos were taken on that walk. Then, after lunch, I presented two talks about Whooping Cranes. I was pretty tired by the end of the day! And then on Sunday morning I got to drive home in snow flurries! The wonders of spring in northern Wisconsin!
