Hydrocoloeus minutus Order: Charadriiformes Family: Laridae (Gulls, Terns, and Skimmers)

This dainty gull, the smallest gull in the world, breeds in northern Europe, the Palearctic, and locally in Canada, and makes occasional but regular appearances in the United States, especially in the Great Lakes. It is sociable, breeding in small colonies. When vagrants appear, they often associate with Bonaparte’s Gulls.
