This splendid bird of South American cloud forests of the Andes is found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Perú, where it is the national bird. It’s very secretive and usually hard to find. Its population is dwindling along with its endangered habitat, but it’s still hanging in there.
