Laura's Best Bird EVER!: How I went looking for birds, and found adventure, fun, joy, love, and redemption.
Laura is slowly amassing stories about encounters with birds that were uniquely special to her. Each of these blog posts is a transcript of a For the Birds podcast/radio program, though the blog post is often longer and more fleshed out due to time constraints for many radio stations that carry the program. Also, she sometimes edits these to improve them. She’s been using these stories as part of keynote speeches titled “Laura’s Best Bird EVER: How I went looking for birds, and found adventure, fun, joy, love, and redemption.” When finished, she wants these to be collected in book form.

Laura's Coverage of the BP Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill
I spent about 10 days in the Gulf from late July into August in 2010, following the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill. It was much, much worse than the government or the media represented. As I remember, only a single reporter of national prominence, Anderson Cooper, was using actual investigative journalism rather than simply buying the BP line about everything.
