Found only in westernmost Ecuador and Peru, the Collared Antshrike’s natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, and subtropical or tropical moist shrubland. Its primary diet is insects, but it’s sometimes mobbed by hummingbirds, seedeaters, and grassquits, so ornithologists suspect it may also take small eggs or nestlings.
