Spizella passerina
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Emberizidae (Buntings and New World Sparrows)
This abundant and handsome little sparrow, found anywhere conifers are found, from backyards to wilderness, is a persistent singer from early spring into early summer. The dry trill is an important song to learn because so many other songs are similar, and described based on comparisons with it.
