Northern Cardinal

The state bird of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia (all of which happen to be contiguous states) is beloved for its bright color (ideally depicted on winter holiday greeting cards) and its rich, whistled song. Chicago Cubs fans tend to disapprove of this bird, at least from April through October.
